Storm Goretti leaves tens of thousands without power in France

(MENAFN) Around 92,000 households in northern France remain without electricity following the passage of Storm Goretti. France’s electricity operator reported that power has been restored to more than three-quarters of the 380,000 homes initially affected, but outages persist in several northern and northwestern regions, including Manche, Calvados, Seine-Maritime, Eure, and Orne. Repair crews continue working to fully restore service.

The storm has also impacted electricity production, with a major nuclear facility unable to generate power since Thursday night.

Storm Goretti brought extremely strong winds across parts of the country, reaching speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour (124 mph). The highest recorded gust was 213 kph (132 mph) in Gatteville, Normandy. Authorities reported that six people sustained minor injuries as a result of the storm.
