The Real World Surpasses 800 Expert-Verified Campus Graduation Certificates

Each campus on the platform defines its own standards for graduation, and an industry expert signs off on every certificate.

MIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, September 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- New Era Learning LLC, which owns and operates The Real World, announced today that the online education platform has issued more than 800 Campus Graduation Certificates.

Certificates continue to be issued across all campuses as members complete graduation requirements. The requirements have not changed since the credential was introduced, and neither has the way submissions are assessed.

"We passed 800 without changing anything about how the work gets reviewed," said Mark Berringer, spokesperson for New Era Learning. "Every one of those certificates went through a coach who read the submission and put their own name on it. That is the part we are not willing to trade for a bigger number."

How Graduation Works
Graduation combines campus testing with submitted work. Members complete assessments covering the campus curriculum and submit completed work for review. A campus expert then evaluates the full record and either approves the certificate or returns the submission for revision. Members who fall short are told what is missing and can resubmit. Each campus sets criteria appropriate to its discipline, and what counts as a verifiable outcome in AI automation differs from what counts in ecommerce or client acquisition.

The credential, known on the platform as Tier II Clearance, carries a publicly shareable verification link that members can give to outside employers and clients. It also unlocks Specialist status in the TRW Marketplace, the platform's internal contract economy, where certified members bid on paid contracts from other members with payment held in escrow until the work is approved.

The certification process is included in the $99 monthly membership. Members pay no separate certification fee, in contrast with several major programs that charge for credentialing on top of course enrollment.

Market Context
The approach runs against a market moving toward scale. OpenAI has committed to certifying 10 million Americans by 2030, and the share of candidates pursuing AI and machine learning certifications rose from 17 percent in 2022 to 35 percent in 2024, according to Gartner research reported by Computerworld. A 2026 DataCamp survey of more than 500 US and UK enterprise leaders, conducted with YouGov, found that 82 percent of organizations now offer AI training, while 59 percent still report an AI skills gap.

Looking Ahead
New Era Learning said the review model will stay in place as certificate volume grows. As AI credentialing scales across the industry, the company is wagering that credentials carrying an individual reviewer's name will hold value that mass-issued certificates lose.
