China Seeks Deeper Economic Ties with Thailand, Laos, Myanmar

(MENAFN) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held separate meetings with his counterparts from Thailand, Laos and Myanmar on Tuesday, ahead of the 11th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

During talks with Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Wang expressed Beijing's readiness to expand access to its domestic market for Thai businesses, promote Chinese investment in Thailand and strengthen collaboration in emerging industries, including artificial intelligence, computing centers and semiconductors.

He also called on Bangkok to maintain a stable and predictable operating environment for Chinese companies, while urging both countries to work together against online gambling and telecommunications fraud.

Wang emphasized the need for closer cooperation among neighboring states and greater coordination through multilateral frameworks, including APEC and China-ASEAN mechanisms, to support regional stability and economic development. He also called for "eliminating various interferences."

Sihasak, meanwhile, expressed Thailand's willingness to coordinate more closely with China on international matters, support multilateralism and defend the international order centered on the United Nations.

In his meeting with Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Wang called for continued high-level exchanges and more effective use of the China-Laos Economic Corridor Cooperation Joint Committee.

He also stressed the importance of accelerating development of the China-Laos railway and expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, mining and other sectors.
